a multidisciplinary thoracic oncology clinic

Clinic Information:

The Center for Chest Care, Dr. Gregory Oakhill The Center for Chest Care provides multidisciplinary care for patients with known or suspected cancer of the lung and chest.  The specialists needed to diagnose and treat cancers of the lung and chest work together in the same location.  Our patients appreciate the ease and convenience of having access to all of their doctors in one place, at one time, as well as being able to remain close to home.

The goal of this clinic is to make the diagnosis and treatment of cancer of the lung and chest easier.  This is done in part by eliminating multiple visits to multiple specialists scattered throughout the region.

The multidisciplinary or team approach to cancer of the lung and chest is necessary due to the complexity of the disease and the numerous treatment options.  Treatments may include surgery, chemotherapy, biotherapy, and radiation therapy.  These treatments are often used in combination making it difficult for any one specialty to care for these cancers alone.  Additionally, in order to provide the most up-to-date treatments, each patient is screened for eligibility in a clinical trial.  (See Research)

A carefully thought out plan for each individual patient is developed with input from each specialized physician.  Patients evaluated by a multidisciplinary team, rather than by just one specialty, have better outcomes.
